Position Overview:


The Operations Intern will support the Operations Department in ensuring efficient and effective execution of projects related to property management and maintenance. This role involves assisting with project management tasks, administrative duties, and hands-on operational activities. The intern will gain firsthand experience in the property management industry, working under the guidance of experienced professionals. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the operations department of a general contractor focused on property management, providing a solid foundation for a future career in the industry.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Support:

  • Assist in coordinating and managing property maintenance and renovation projects.
  • Help in scheduling and tracking project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Support the operations team in ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.

Administrative Assistance:

  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, managing project documentation, preparing reports, and maintaining records of operations activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, budgets, and cost estimations.
  • Manage and update the department’s database and project management software.

Communication:

  • Facilitate effective communication within the team and with external stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and clients.
  • Prepare and distribute project-related communications and updates to relevant parties.

Vendor and Contractor Coordination:

  • Assist in the selection and management of vendors and contractors.
  • Help coordinate and oversee the work of contractors to ensure adherence to quality, budget, and timelines.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Support the operations team in monitoring the quality of work and compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends in property management and construction techniques.
  • Assist in evaluating the feasibility of potential projects or operational improvements.

Learning and Development:

  • Participate in training sessions and meetings to enhance knowledge of property management operations.
  • Seek feedback and actively engage in learning opportunities within the department.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated in a degree program related to Construction Management, Property Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn project management software.
  • Excellent ability to communicate in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • A hybrid work environment, allowing for both remote and onsite work in Springfield/VA. This position may require occasional travel to project sites or client meetings.
  • Hours are 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday, Including 1 hour lunch break.
